Ms. Swartwood’s fourth grade class had a ton of fun learning about tree crops, pollination, hybrid breeding, composting and much more out at Steamboat Acres. They also got to pick their own ear of glass gem corn to husk and unveil the beautiful colors – they were anywhere from blue to red and pink to yellow and everything in between! After the farm experience, students loaded up on the bus and got a behind-the-scenes tour of the Raley’s store in Lodi! They learned about the importance of storing fresh versus frozen fruit, how to store food properly, the importance of composting and a first hand look on how Raley’s recycles all of their plastic and cardboard! Thank you to our program sponsor Raley’s for making these field trips possible!
