1/2 cup butter (use butter!)
13 oz. half and half
4 ½ cups of C & H Sugar (must be cane sugar)
½ lb. marshmallows
2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
12 oz. semi sweet chocolate
12 oz. dark sweet chocolate (or milk chocolate)
1 Tbsp. vanilla
2 cups walnuts (if desired)
Pinch of salt
Combine butter, half and half and sugar. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. (The best way to tell is to put a drop on your finger tip and rub it. If it feels like sandpaper, it’s not completely dissolved.) Cover and boil for 5 minutes. (Turn the heat high enough to reach a boil. Heat higher than needed for boiling will burn the sugar mixture.) Turn heat off. If you are using an electric stove, remove from heat.
Add chocolate, one ounce at a time, letting each one melt as you stir. Fold in marshmallows and stir them to melting. Add the vanilla, walnuts and salt. Pour into a buttered 10” x 13” pan. Let cool and enjoy.
