California Farmland Trust is passionate about educating the next generation about the importance of farmland conservation. Our engaging, hands-on programs bring agricultural concepts to life for students across the state.
These programs inspire curiosity and foster a deeper understanding of how farmland connects to our daily lives, encouraging students to become advocates for agricultural conservation in their communities.

Our newest educational program introduces students to the wonders of soil and why it matters for growing healthy food. Using a simple and fun jar experiment, students explore the layers of soil (sand, silt, clay, and organic matter) and learn how different soil types impact plant growth.

This interactive activity teaches students about the value of farmland and the role it plays in providing the food we eat every day.
