Associate Director Melanee Cottrill and Program Assistant Troy Young had a great time volunteering at the first ever Sacramento Farm Day, hosted by the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom and the Dave Joerger Foundation. It was a perfect day on the grounds of the California Farm Bureau Federation, with over 1,500 students, teachers and others from the greater Sacramento area coming to learn about agriculture and the production of local food.
Throughout the day fourth – sixth grade students from 16 different schools questioned and learned at various ag stations with great enthusiasm. The majority of the attendees, both children and parents, had not had such an up close and personal look at farming and the food supply; Farm Day is a learning experience they otherwise would not have.
