Over the past two decades, California Farmland Trust has worked to protect over 17,350 acres of farmland throughout six counties. We are pleased to announce the recent closings of three San Joaquin County projects, forever protecting 318 acres of farmland. Farmers, Tom Murphy and Chester Murphy, and Mike and Diana Machado, have chosen to permanently protect their farmland, and we are proud to recognize their utmost commitment to California agriculture.
The Murphy and Machado families were recognized for their dedication to California agriculture and conserving the world’s best farmland on December 7, 2021 at Machado Family Farms. Members from the Department of Conservation and staff members from the offices of Congressman Jerry McNerney and Assemblyman Carlos Villapudua joined us in congratulating these families in their sustainability efforts. Following the program, guests also experienced an on-site tour of the walnut hulling and drying facility.
Many congratulations to the Murphy and Machado families, for protecting their farmland and for their commitment to stewardship!
